Valentyn Yakovych Brodskyi was an artist, art critic, and member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Born in 1905 in Kharkiv, in 1918-1922 he studied at an art studio in Rostov. In 1922-1924, he continued his studies in Leningrad at VKHUTEMAS and simultaneously in the studio of M.V. Dobuzhynskyi, and later at the Higher Courses of Art History (1924-1929). From 1927, he participated in exhibitions. In 1934-1940, Brodskyi worked as a consultant artist at the Gorky Automobile Plant. He created works on fine arts and industrial aesthetics. In 1941-1947, he created a series of drawings "Leningrad under Siege", and in 1947-1956 - a series of watercolor landscape drawings. The artist was a master of color autolithography. He passed away in 1981. The artist's works are kept in museums in the post-Soviet space.
