Arkadii Leonidovych Chychkan was a Ukrainian non-conformist artist, a member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR starting in 1973. He was born on August 10, 1947 in Kyiv in the family of the Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, Professor of the Kyiv State Art Institute Leonid Illich Chychkan. In 1972 he graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute. His teachers were T. Yablonska, V. Ulianova. In 1979 he was a participant in the legendary "Exhibition 13", which was a passive resistance of Ukrainian painting to socialist realism. Among the artist's works: "Microdistrict" (1971), "Beer" (1972), "Girls" (1975), "Metro" (1989), and others. In 2009, the exhibition "Dynasty" was held, which presented the work of four generations of the Chychkan family of artists. The artist's works are represented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. He died in Kyiv in 2017.
