Orest Heorhiiovych Vereiskyi was a Soviet graphic artist, illustrator. Born on July 7 (20), 1915 in the village of Anosovo, Smolensk province, he was an academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1983) and a People's Artist of the USSR (1983). From 1936-1938, Vereiskyi was a part-time student at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the All-Russian Academy of Arts, studying under O. Osmiorkin. Known for his book graphics, he illustrated the works of M. Sholokhov, K. Paustovskyi, O. Fadieiev, M. Pryshvin, I. Bunin, and E. Hemingway. Easel graphics occupied a prominent place in Vereyskyi's work. He produced a series of drawings, watercolors, an autolithographs of various subjects. Vereiskyi lived and worked in Moscow. He died on January 2, 1993.
