Oleksii Mykolaiovych Zakharchuk was a Ukrainian painter, master of landscape painting, graphic artist, and Honored Artist of Ukraine (2006). He was born on February 2, 1929 in the city of Illintsi (now Vinnytsia region, Ukraine). In 1945-1950 he studied at the Kharkiv Art School, and in 1957 he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers were T. Yablonska and S. Hryhoriev. From 1966, he was a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine and participated in republic, all-Union, and international exhibitions. In 2002, Zakharchuk became a laureate of the "Kyiv" city prize in the field of landscape painting. In 2014, the Oleksiy Zakharchuk gallery-museum "Blue Evening" was created on the Left Bank in Kyiv. He created the works "Rye Blooms" (1961), "Dreamy Lake" (1968), "In Spring" (1981), "Kyiv Hills" (1993), "River. Sula" (1999), and others. Zakharchuk died on March 25, 2013 in Kyiv. His works are kept in some museums of Ukraine.
