Volodymyr Volodymyrovych Yemets was a Soviet and Ukrainian painter. Born on April 4, 1938 in the city of Chernihiv, he was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, an Honored Artist of Ukraine (1988), and a People's Artist of Ukraine (1998). Yemets graduated from the Chisinau Art School in 1960, and studied from 1963 to 1968 at the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers in the specialty were V. Puzyrkov, I. Tykhyi, A. Basanets, and L. Vitkovskyi. Yemets was a master of realistic thematic painting, the portrait, and the landscape. A member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, he worked as the director of an art museum. His main works include “To My Son” (1970), “On the Levada” (1971), “Desna. Young Moon” (2003), “Southern Bug. By the Old Mill" (2003), on "Evening on Boromky" (2004). His works are kept in Ukrainian museums. Yemets lived and worked in Chernihiv, and passed away in Chernihiv on November 5, 2019.
