Hryhorii Andriiovych Shponko was a Ukrainian painter. Born on June 10, 1926 in the village of Balky, Zaporizhia region. Graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute (1953). Teachers by specialty: H. Melikhov, S. Hryhoriev, and K. Trokhymenko. Worked in the field of easel painting. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR (1954). Created portraits, genre scenes. Participated in exhibitions: republic - starting in 1951, all-Union - starting in 1953. Participated in the restoration of the panorama in Sevastopol, in the painting of the main pavilion of the VDNH (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). His main works include "Poultrymen" (1960), "Springboard" (1963), "From the Soviet Information Bureau. 1941" (1968), "Fishing Artel. Ice Fishing" (1969). His works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Lived and worked in Kyiv. Died in 2005.
