Mykhailo Havrylovych Belskyi was a Ukrainian artist, painter, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1970), and People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1978). Born on November 21, 1922 in the village of Zakromske (now Oryol region). He graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute (1951), where he studied under I. Shtilman, V. Kostetskyi, and S. Hryhoriev. He worked in the field of easel painting, a representative of socialist realism. He participated in republic and foreign exhibitions (since 1951) and all-Union exhibitions (since 1957). Among his works are "T.G. Shevchenko" (1961), "Metallurgists of Donbas" (1970), "Flowers to the Victors" (1976), "Memory" (1988), and others. He lived and worked in Kyiv. He died on May 20, 1994. His works are kept in many museums of Ukraine.
