Vasyl Heorhiiovych Habda was a Ukrainian painter. Born on July 11, 1925 in Uzhhorod, he graduated from the Budapest Polytechnic Institute (1943-1944) and Uzhhorod Art and Industrial School (1946). His teachers by profession were A. Erdei, J. Bokshai, F. Manailo. Habda worked in the field of easel painting and created lyrical landscapes and elegant still lifes. His color palette is calm, warm and pure, keeping mainly to blue-green and purple tones. He was a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1958) and a People's Artist of Ukraine (2000). He participated in republic (1954), all-Union (1957), and foreign (1967) exhibitions. His main works include the series "Past Transcarpathia" (1980), "In the Hutsul Region" (1953), "Early Spring" (1968), "Uzhhorod Castle" (1970), "Blue River" (1972), "Autumn Flowers" (1974), "Wildflowers" (1975), the triptych "Seasons" (1975), "Uzh River" (1978), "Old Verkhovyna" (1979), "Old Tree" (1981), "Autumn in the Carpathians" (1981), "Fairytale Motif" (1981), "Thaw Water" (1991), "Autumn Trees" (1995), "Sunflowers" (1997), "Blue Carpathians" (1998), "Forest" (2001), "Village of Kostryno" (2001), and others. His works are kept in museums of Ukraine. He lived and worked in Uzhhorod and died in 2003.
