Yevhen Vasylovych Chuikov was a Ukrainian artist, member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine from 1960. Honored Artist of Ukraine (1977). People's Artist of Ukraine (1997). Born on May 18, 1924 in the village of Nyzhniy Reut (now Kursk region, Russia). From 1940 to 1942 he studied at the painting department of the Omsk Art School. He participated in World War II. After the war he studied in Zaporizhia in the art studios of I. Fedianin and H. Kolosovskyi. He was a member of the Zaporizhia Regional Society of Artists (1952 to 1962). For ten years he held the position of chairman of the Zaporizhia branch of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine. He worked in the field of easel painting, mainly in the landscape genre. He participated in republic exhibitions starting in 1957, all-Union exhibitions starting in 1965, and foreign exhibitions starting in 1969. Among his works are "Early Spring" (1963), "Spring Meadows" (1965), "Industrial Landscape" (1967), "Awakening" (1970), "Above Nameless Heights" (1977), and many others. He died on February 15, 2000. His works are represented in museum and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Great Britain, and the USA.
