Viktor Volodymyrovych Babentsov was a Ukrainian painter and a member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine since 1956. He was born on 5 February 1921 in the village of Lytvynivka (now Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine). In 1938–1939, he studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Art College (student of Mykhailo Panin). He was a participant in the Second World War. From 1946 to 1952, he studied at the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers included Karp Trokhymenko and Volodymyr Kostetskyi. He worked in the field of easel painting and graphic art, creating genre scenes, portraits, and landscapes. Since 1951, he participated in all-Union and republic art exhibitions. He also took part in international exhibitions in Japan (1974–1976), Finland (1977), and Bulgaria (1984). Among his works are "Lesia Ukrainka" (1952, 1962), "Comrades-in-Arms" (1965), "Autumn Motif" (1970), "Portrait of the Mother" (1984), and others. He passed away on 23 February 2012 in Kyiv. His paintings are held in numerous museums in Ukraine and abroad.
