Kostiantyn Oleksandrovych Prokhorov was a Ukrainian and Russian painter and a member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine. Born on December 20, 1924 in the village of Karavayevo (now Vladymir region, Russia), he began his professional training at the Palesk Art School. From 1940 to 1942, he studied at the Ivanovo Art School. He participated in World War II, and after the war continued his studies at the Ivanovo Art School. His teachers were A. Kuznetsov and M. Pyrin. During 1946 to 1948, Prokhorov studied at the M. Samokysh Simferopol Art School. His teachers were M. Shcheglov and M. Kroshitsky. Starting in 1948, he worked in the Crimean organization of the Union of Artists of the USSR, then of Ukraine. For several years, he worked as a teacher at the Simferopol Art School. He graduated in absentia from the I.Yu. Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Prokhorov worked in the field of easel and monumental painting in the genres of thematic painting, landscape, portrait, and still life. He participated in regional, republic, all-Union, and foreign exhibitions starting in 1949. His personal exhibitions were held in Kyiv, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Moscow, Dmytriv, and in the village of Karavayevo. Among his works are "Heroes on Vacation" (1949), "Artek Bay" (1952), "Conversation by Tea" (1956), "Golden Time" (1959), "Chekhov's Bay in Gurzuf" (1969), "Marina" (1973), "On a Fishing Trip" (1977), and others. He died on March 26, 2022. The artist's works are kept in many museums in the post-Soviet space and in private collections in Russia, the USA, Japan, Poland, Germany, Czechia, and Slovenia.
