Isaak Yosypovych Tartakovskyi was a Ukrainian painter. He was born on April 25, 1912 in the city of Volochysk (Khmelnytskyi region). He graduated from the Art and Industrial School in 1929. His teachers were K. Trokhymenko. From 1932 to 1937 he studied at the Kyiv Institute of Cinematography at the Faculty of Cinematography in the workshop of O. Dovzhenko. In 1951 he graduated from the Kyiv Institute of Art. His teachers were O. Shovkunenko, M. Sharonov, V. Kostetskyi, S. Hryhoriev, T. Yablonska. He participated in art exhibitions: from 1949 in republic and all-Union exhibitions, from 1951 - in international ones. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Honored Artist of Ukraine (1976). People's Artist of Ukraine (1993). Created thematic paintings, exquisite landscapes and still lifes. He was also a portraitist. His works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Lived and worked in Kyiv. The artist died on June 18, 2002.
