Oleksandr Pavlovych Bubnov was a Soviet painter, a corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1954). He was a Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1948). Born on February 20 (March 4), 1908 in Tiflis (now Tbilisi, Georgia), he studied at an art school (Saratov province) in 1919. After the school was closed due to the events of the Civil War, he studied privately with his teacher Fedorov. In 1926-1930, he continued his studies at the Higher Art and Technical Institute (Moscow). A genre and historical painter, Bubnov's work is characterized by a broad pictorial manner and buoyant usage of color. His famous works include "Morning on Kulikovo Field" (1943-1947), "Evening on the Plough" (1959-1960), "Autumn" (1961-1962), illustrations for the works of M.V. Gogol, T.G. Shevchenko, O.S. Pushkin, and others. He died on July 30, 1964 in Moscow. The artist's paintings are kept in museums in Russia, Ukraine and in private collections in the post-Soviet space and abroad.

Against the backdrop of a winter landscape, in the center of the composition there is a sleigh with newlyweds. The bride is wearing a sheepskin coat and a colored shawl; the groom is in a sailor's uniform. There are smiling people all around. On the left there is the village council building with a red flag.
