Serhii Vadymovych Odainyk was a Ukrainian artist, painter, monumental artist, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1977), and Honored Artist of Ukraine (2002). Born on November 16, 1949 in Kyiv in an artistic family (his parents were V.I. Odainyk and Z.O. Odainyk-Samoilenko). He studied at the T. Shevchenko Kyiv Art Secondary School, and in 1973, he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute, where his teachers were S. Hryhoriev and T. Yablonska. In 1978, he graduated from the creative workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts. Starting in 1971, he participated in republic and all-Union art exhibitions. Odainyk taught at the M. Boichuk State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design, holding the position of associate professor. He worked in the field of easel painting and monumental and decorative art. Among his works are "Dream" (1978), "Sounds of a Summer Night" (1980), "Kazantyp Reserve" (1982), "Time" (1985), "Requiem. Famine of 1932 to 1933" (1994), "Reflections" (2006), and others. He died on December 5, 2019 in Kyiv. His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, other museums, galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
