Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Kamornyi was a Ukrainian artist, painter, decorator, and monumentalist. Born on October 5, 1906 in the village of Popivka, Tavria province (now the village of Antonivka, Zaporizhia region, Ukraine), he studied in Berdyansk in the studio of Yakov Solomonovich Khast (1873-1953). In 1926, he graduated from the Kharkiv branch of the VKhUTEMAS, or "Higher Art and Technical Studios". After graduation, he worked as a theater artist in various theater troupes. In the 1930s, Kamornyi created frescoes for the Palace of Pioneers in Mariupol. He created landscapes and genre paintings. A member of the Society of Artists of Zhdaniv (now Mariupol, Ukraine), he participated in city art exhibitions. Kamornyi died in 1997 in Mariupol.
