Hennadii Yakovych Brusentsov was a Ukrainian artist, painter, and graphic artist. He was a member of the USSR Union of Artists from 1954 and Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR from 1982. Born on October 14, 1927 in Orel (now Russia), Brusentsov graduated from the Higher Art and Industrial College in Leningrad in 1953, where he studied under Ye. Pavlovskyi, P. Sydorov, and A. Kazantsev. In 1953-1969, he worked in Turkmenistan. From 1969, he lived in Sevastopol. He worked in the fields of easel painting, icon painting, and monumental and decorative art, creating landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and nudes in a realistic manner. He participated in art exhibitions: all-Union (1954-1985), republic (1954-1988), and foreign (since 1968). He had personal exhibitions in Ashgabat (1965-1966), Sevastopol (1971, 1977), Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Yalta, and Zhytomyr (all 1977-1978). Among his works are "On the Earth" (1966), "Our Parents" (1967), "Almond Blossomed" (1974), "Morning Seagulls" (1979), "Cypresses" (1998), and others. Brusentsov's works are kept in museums of Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Russia and in private collections. He died on April 1, 2006 in Sevastopol.
