Albert Oleksandrovych Makhotin was a Soviet Ukrainian painter. Born on January 2, 1930 in the city of Tula, Russia, he studied at the Leningrad Art School under teachers V. Dutchenko and M. Chernyshov. Makhotin worked in the field of easel painting and was a member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Starting in 1957, he participated in republic and all-Union exhibitions. His main works include "At the Mill" (1954), "Morning in the Steppe" (1956), "Summer Evening" (1957), "Spring in the Park" (1957), "Old Yard" (1958), "Letter" (1958), "Neighbor" (1959), "Azov Coast" (1960), "Portovik" (1961), "Spring Road" (1961), "Partisans" (1966), "Youth of Parents" (1966), "Industrial Morning" (1970), "Land of Donetsk" (1971), "Harvest" (1973), "Roads of Childhood" (1973), "New Building" (1975), "Seaside" (1978), "Yachts" (1978), "Peaceful Day" (1979), "Sunday Evening" (1980), "On Victory Day" (1980), "Self-Portrait in a Green Shirt" (1980), "Factory Landscape" (1980), "In Ukraine" (1982), and "Neptune's Day" (1980). Makhotin lived and worked in the city of Mariupol and died on July 23, 1993.

Original. In the foreground, painted in ochre tones, there is a steppe. In the centre, there are dark grey structures of a workshop under construction; to the left lies a greyish-blue sea, and to the right are factory buildings. The sky is greyish-blue. On the reverse of the canvas are the artist’s full name, year of birth, the name of the painting, and its dimensions.
