Fedir Zotykovych (Zotovych) Konovaliuk was a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. He was born on March 9 (21), 1890 in the village of Kalivka (now the village of Yahidne, Vinnytsia region, Ukraine). From 1903-1909, he studied at the Lavra icon-painting workshop, from 1911-1915 at the Kyiv Art School under Volodymyr Menk and Oleksandr Murashko, from 1915-1917 at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under Volodymyr Makovsky, and from 1925-1927 at the Kyiv Art Institute under Fedir Krychevsky. In his work, Konovaliuk developed the traditions of Ukrainian artists of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. He participated in the paintings of churches in Kyiv and Katerynoslav (now Dnipro). For a long time, he worked together with Ivan Yizhakevich. He participated in art exhibitions starting in 1911, with personal exhibitions held in Kyiv (1955, 1966, 1982, 1987). Konovaliuk lived and worked in Kyiv and died on December 20, 1984. Some of his works are kept in museums of Ukraine.

Most of the painting is a mown field. In the lower part of the canvas, near the edge of a narrow winding path, there is a small shelter with a young shepherd sitting beside it; a little further away, to the right, are two grazing horses. In the distance, closer to the horizon, there are two haystacks. In the lower right corner of the image, the date "1973" and the artist’s signature are painted in oil.
