Oleksii Pavlovych Kostiuchenko was a painter and member of the National Union of Artists since 1968. Born on March 31, 1930 in the village of Kryva Kosa (now the village of Syedove, Donetsk region, Ukraine), he graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Art School (1951), where his teachers were T. Drozdova, M. Panin, and N. Pohrebniak. Later, he graduated from the Geological Faculty of Dnipropetrovsk University. From then, he worked as a geologist in Tajikistan. Starting in 1993, he engaged in creative work, living and working in Mariupol. His main field was easel painting. He participated in city, regional, all-Ukrainian, and all-Union art exhibitions starting in 1955. His personal exhibitions were held in Dushanbe (1965, 1967, 1980, 1983, 1986, 1988), Gurzuf (1968), Mariupol (1995, 1997, 2001), and Moscow (1970). He created portraits and landscapes in a realistic style. Kostiuchenko's main works include "Student Geologist" (1953), "Crimean Autumn" (1968), "Pine" (1970), "Mountains" (1980s), "Old Pier" (1993), and others. He died on January 6, 2006. Some of his works were kept in the Mariupol Museum of Local Lore and in the Art Funds of Tajikistan.
