Olena Vasylivna Ovchynnykova is a Ukrainian graphic artist, essayist, teacher, and member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine from 1965. Born on October 1, 1935 in Kyiv, she graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute (easel graphics workshop) in 1960. Her teachers in the specialty were O. Pashchenko, V. Kasiian, O. Danchenko, L. Chichkan, I. Selivanov, and S. Yerzhykovskyi. During 1969 to 1982, she taught drawing at the Kyiv Art Institute. She worked in the fields of easel and book graphics and monumental art. Among her works were the series of linocuts "People from Verkhovyna" (1963), the series of linocuts "Peaceful Summer" (1963 to 1965), the diptych "Ballad about Sons" (1967), the series "Kyiv Diary" (1990s), and others. Ovchynnykova illustrated over 25 books. She participated in republic (starting in 1960), all-Union (starting in 1965), and foreign (starting in 1964) exhibitions. Her personal exhibitions were held in Kyiv (1987, 1995). Some of her works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine and in many other museums of Ukraine.
