Mai Pylypovych Chukhlantsev was a Ukrainian Soviet painter, member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine. Born on May 20, 1925 in the city of Ishym (now the Tyumen region of Russia). Participated in World War II. In 1954 he graduated from the Ya.I. Nikoladze Tbilisi Art School. Starting in 1949 he lived in Sevastopol. He worked in the field of easel painting, graphics. He participated in republic and all-Union exhibitions starting in 1961. A personal exhibition was held in Sevastopol in 1962. Among his works are "Bunting Box Overgrown with Poppies" (1960), "Legend" (1969); series of watercolors: "My Sevastopol" (1956 to 1970), "Great Sea" (1961), "Central Asia" (1968), and others. He died on July 6, 1981 in Sevastopol. The artist's works are in the Sevastopol Art Museum, as well as in museum and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, and other countries.
