Vasyl Dmytrovych Chehodar was a Ukrainian Soviet painter, member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine. Honored Artist of Ukraine from 1982. Born on November 25, 1918 in the village of Chervonyi Yar (now Odesa region, Ukraine). In 1939 he graduated from the Perm Art School. Starting in 1941 he studied at the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers were S. Hryhoriev, F. Mikhieiev, Ye. Shuiskyi. He worked in the field of easel painting, creating landscapes, still lifes. He participated in republic exhibitions starting in 1949, all-Union - starting in 1961. Personal exhibitions: Kyiv (1946, 1962, 1982). Among his works are "Roses" (1956), "Sea" (1957), "Tysa River" (1963), "Cherry Blossoms" (1967), "Kyiv. April" (1969), "Kyiv Chestnuts" (1980), "In the Kyiv Region" (1989), "Summer Still Life" (1989), and others. He died on October 27, 1989 in Kyiv. His works are kept in many museum and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.

Original. A river occupies the centre of the composition, spanned by a bridge. On the left bank, there is grass and a group of trees; to the right, human figures are depicted. In the background, there is dense vegetation. In the lower right corner of the image, there are the artist’s signature and an abbreviated date "73".
