Volodymyr Stepanovych Shendel was a Ukrainian graphic artist. He was born on June 22, 1936 in Donetsk. From 1959 to 1963 he studied at the Semenivka Art and Industrial School. From 1965 to 1971 he studied at the graphics department of the I.E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He studied in the workshop of A. Pakhomov. He worked in the field of easel and book graphics in various techniques: etching, linocut, lithography, watercolor. In 1973 he joined the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. He participated in regional, republic, all-Union and foreign exhibitions. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1982). He created a series of drawings "The Great Patriotic War", "Cossacks of the Zaporozhian Sich", "Yes, We are Scythians", "Stakhanovites", "Master and Margarita". He designed the anniversary edition of "Spring of Victory", B. Bilash's books "How Long, Homeland?", "The Living Secret of Sviatohiria", "The Price of Betrayal". People's Artist of Ukraine (2006). His works are presented in museums of Ukraine. He lived and worked in Donetsk. He died on September 13, 2019.
