Oleh Borysovych Vasyliev was a Soviet Ukrainian painter. Born on September 19, 1918 in the city of Ufa in Bashkiria, he studied from 1940-1949 at the Kyiv Art Institute in the studio of K. Trokhymenko and was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1968). His main genres are landscapes and thematic paintings. The artist was inspired to create them by trips to Karelia, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Vasiliev's work is characterized by emotionality and eccentricity of figurative decisions. He was a participant of art exhibitions: republic - since 1945, all-Union - since 1965, foreign - since 1971. His works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Vasyliev lived and worked in Kyiv and died in 2014.
