Ivan Ivanovych Chernikov was a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born on January 14, 1922 in the village of Terpinnia (now Zaporizhia region, Ukraine). Participant of World War II. Awarded orders and medals. In 1949, he entered the Saratov Art School. After graduating, he continued his studies at the Kyiv State Art Institute. He worked in the field of easel painting and graphics. Participant of many art exhibitions. Among his works are "Near the Temple" (1970), "Mountain Landscape" (1958), "Female Portrait" (1965), "Evening on the Shore" (1957), "Rural Landscape" (1967), "Forest Landscape" (1965), and others. He worked in the Directorate of Art Exhibitions of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. He died on August 5, 1973 in Kyiv. The artist's works are kept in some museums of Ukraine.

Preservation:
The right side of the sheet, a quarter of the size of the image, was wet. Yellow marks remained, the paper was warped.

In the foreground, beyond a narrow green strip of shore, there is a lake with trees and the opposite bank reflected in it. In the bluish sky are ochre clouds. Below the image on the right there is the artist’s signature and the date: 1968. On the left - the inscription: 3/26 "Willows over the Lake"
