Oleksii Ivanovych Avdyshev was a landscape painter, graphic artist, and Honoured Art Worker of the Karelian ASSR. He was born on 19 September 1928 in Leningrad. From 1945–1950, he studied at the Leningrad Art and Graphics College. His first colour linocuts received high recognition in 1957 at the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students. That same year, Avdyshev was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR. He participated in All-Union and All-Russian art exhibitions, as well as exhibitions of Karelian artists in Moscow. His solo exhibitions were held in Petrozavodsk (1968, 1978, 1983, 1986), Syktyvkar (1969), Moscow (1964, 1984, 1986), and Finland (1991). Among his works are the series "My Karelia" (1966–1969), "In the Winds of Onega" (1978), a series of watercolours (1978), and others. His works are held in museums in Russia, Ukraine, and abroad. He passed away on 31 December 1997.
