Davyd Borysovych Borovskyi was a famous theater artist, graphic artist. Born on August 12, 1926 in Moscow, in 1943 he entered the architectural faculty of the I.Yu. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (Leningrad), but after three months he went to the front. In 1945-1952, he continued his studies at the institute, learning under K. Rudakov and V. Konashevych. Borovskyi created famous book illustrations for classical works and participated in all-Union and international exhibitions of Soviet graphics. In 1990, he began to work in painting techniques. Borovskyi's main themes were ballet, portrait, landscape, and childhood. He passed away in 2004 in St. Petersburg. The artist's works are kept in many museums of the post-Soviet space.
