Borys Valentynovych Shcherbakov was a Soviet Russian painter, graphic artist. Born on March 25 (April 7), 1916 in Petrograd. From 1933 to 1939 he studied at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. His teachers were V. Yakovlev, P. Shukhmin, and I. Brodskyi. He worked on church frescoes in Kyiv. From the 1950s to 1960s he painted portraits of prominent people of his time, in particular K. Fedin, V. Toporkov, I. Kozhedub, and others. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1944). People's Artist of the RSFSR (1981). People's Artist of the USSR (1986). His paintings are kept in many museums around the world. He lived and worked in Moscow. Died on July 25, 1995.
