Yulii Mykolaiovych Yatchenko was a Ukrainian artist. People's Artist of Ukraine (2010). Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1978). Born on July 12, 1928 in the village of Ripky (now Chernihiv region, Ukraine). In 1953 he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers were M. Sharonov, S. Hryhoriev. In 1956 he became a member of the National Union of Artists. Starting in 1963 he worked at the Kyiv Art Institute at the Department of Drawing. Starting in 1979 - professor. He worked in the field of easel painting. The subject matter of his works is dedicated to various historical events and has a wide thematic palette. He participated in art exhibitions starting in 1956. During his life he held more than ten personal exhibitions. Among his works are "On the Distant Edge", "Monk Semen Paliy", "Prince Yaroslav the Wise", "Prince Volodymyr", "Prince Igor in Kyiv", "Farmers", "On Pechersk", "Peasant Still Life", and others. He died on March 22, 2020 in Kyiv. The artist's works are kept in museums in Kyiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, as well as in private collections.
