Stepan Havrylovych Mamchych was a Ukrainian artist and marine painter, one of the representatives of the Cimmerian school. Born on August 14, 1924 in the village of Novopokrovka, Crimea, from 1945, he worked in the cooperative “Crimean Artist”. In 1949, he entered the 4th year of the Samokysh Art School, which he graduated in 1951. In 1954, he moved to Simferopol. In 1964, he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR. By the mid-1960s, Mamchych had developed his own authorial style of painting. His main works include "Fishermen" (1967), "Old Settlement" (1968), "Roofs of the Old City" (1969), "Tremontan - the North Wind" (1969), "Breath of History" (1973), and "Fate. Mistletoe on Poplars" (1973). The artist's works are kept in museums of Ukraine. He lived and worked in Simferopol. He died on April 3, 1974 in Simferopol.

Original. A calm water surface fills most of the painting. On the left, a small pier appears with a sailor and a girl standing on it. By the jetty a boat is visible. In the upper part of the canvas, near the pier, various ships are shown. On the right, near the horizon, the outlines of a city emerge. In the lower left corner, the artist’s signature and an abbreviated date "60" are inscribed.
