Vasyl Pymonovych Khitrykov was a Ukrainian Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR starting in 1972, People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR starting in 1977. Born on January 12, 1922 in the city of Katerynoslav (now Dnipro, Ukraine). From 1937 to 1941 he studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Art School. In 1950 he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers in the specialty were A. Petrytskyi, K. Yeleva. He worked in the field of easel painting. He participated in art exhibitions: republic - starting in 1952, all-Union - starting in 1954, foreign - starting in 1958. His main works include "V.I. Lenin at the III Congress of the Komsomol" (1952), "In the Native House" (1964), a series of portraits "Our Contemporary" (1968 to 1969), "Creativity" (1970), "Melters" (1972), "We are Peaceful People" (1977), and others. He died on September 24, 1987 in Kyiv. The artist's works are kept in many museum and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
