Valentyn Havrylovych Lytvynenko was a Ukrainian graphic artist, painter, and sculptor. Born on August 28, 1908 in the city of Kremenchuk (Poltava region), he studied in the workshops of M. Samokysh (Simferopol) and I. Selezniov (Kyiv) and graduated from the working faculty of the Kharkiv Art Institute (1932-1934). Lytvynenko worked in the field of easel and book graphics, posters, and satire, as well as easel painting and sculpture. He was an Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1958) and People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1960). Lytvynenko participated in exhibitions: republic (since 1944), all-Union (since 1946), and foreign (since 1956). His main works include "Russia Does Not Surrender" (1944), "Jury" (1945), "Hunting Lyrics" (1951), "Spring Silence" (1959), the series "Endangered Species of Birds", "From Species Going into the Past" (1954-1956), "Happiness of the Fisherman" (1960), illustrations for fables by I. Krylov (1945), for the book "Hunting Smiles" by Ostap Vyshny (1959), and for the fairy tales "Trouble Will Teach" by Lesya Ukrainka (1962) and "Donkey and Lion" by I. Franko (1966), caricatures on international themes and satirical drawings in the magazine "Perets" (since 1941), and others. Lytvynenko lived and worked in the city of Kyiv and died in 1979.

A caricatured depiction of Ostap Vyshnia with a rifle in his hands and a bag. He is wearing a gilet and a gymnasterka (Soviet military shirt) belted with a strap bearing pears' depiction. He has a cap on his head. At the bottom right there there is the author's signature.
