Ivan Onysymovych Puz was a painter. He had no special art education, but studied with Mariupol artists of the older generation: O.G. Kechedzhi and L.M. Kuzminkov. In the 1960s, he went on a creative journey in the Baltic countries. He combined creative work with the work of a sailor, visiting many countries, from which he brought sketches. He created still lifes and landscapes and participated in city (starting in 1955) and regional (starting in 1957) art exhibitions. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Bryansk, where he continued his creative work. Puz's paintings were kept in the Mariupol Museum of Local Lore, as well as in private collections. He died in 1980.
