Oleksandr Vasylovych Martynets was a Ukrainian graphic artist. He was born on April 1, 1932 in the city of Kharkiv. He graduated from the Art School (1955) and the Kharkiv Art Institute (1961). His teachers by profession were L. Chernov and Ye. Yegorov. He worked in the field of easel graphics. A member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine from 1966, Martynets participated in republic (starting in 1964), all-Union, and foreign (starting in 1965) exhibitions. His main works include the series of linocuts "Sisters" (1964), "Our Steel" (1965), "Kerch" (1968), "Red Horsemen" (1968), and others. Martynets' works are in museums in Ukraine and Russia. He lived and worked in the city of Kharkiv. He died in Kharkiv on June 24, 2008.
