Halyna Illivna Harkavenko was a Ukrainian graphic artist, painter. Born on May 2, 1933 in the city of Kharkiv, she graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute (1959), where her teachers by profession were O. Pashchenko and V. Kasian. She worked in the field of easel graphics, in the technique of color linocut. She was a member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR (1964) and participated in republic and all-Union (1957) and foreign (1959) exhibitions. Her main works include a series of color engravings – "Kyiv", "Evening Dnipro", "Philharmonic" (1959), "House-Museum of T. Shevchenko" (1963), and "On the Dnipro Park" (1966); watercolor landscapes - "Trees over the River" (1973), "Early May" (1976), "Magic Dawn" (1977), "Morning Spaces in the Fog" (1985), "Blue Sunny Day" (1990); graphic portraits - the series "Children from the Village of Slobidka" (1990-2005), "V. Davydenko" (2000), "M. Kartashov" (2002), "V. Kostyshyn" (2005); paintings - "I. Fomenko" (1995), "V. Kardynalovska" (1996), "Girl in Ukrainian Dress" (1998), and "House Illuminated by the Sun" (2002). Harkavenko lived and worked in Kyiv and died on May 15, 2008.
