Dmytro Semenovych Katynin was a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist and a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1970. He was born on August 29, 1925 in the village of Annino (now Volga District, Samara Region, Russia). He participated in World War II and was awarded medals. In 1952, he graduated from the Vladivostok Art School, where he studied under K. Shebeko and V. Bezrodnyi. In 1959, he graduated from the Kharkiv Art Institute, where he studied under H. Bondarenko, O. Kokel, V. Myronenko, and V. Syzykov. He worked at the Kherson Art Group. In 1981-1991 and 1993-1995, he was the head of the Kherson organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. Katynin worked in the fields of easel painting and easel graphics. Starting in 1960, he participated in regional, all-Ukrainian, and foreign art exhibitions. His personal exhibitions were held in Kherson (1975, 1995). Among his works are the graphics "Trumpet" (1959), "Breakthrough" (1959), and "Battle for Syvash" (1967), the paintings "Silence (Wife)" (1984), "Cossacks in Oleshki" (1992), "H. Skovoroda" (2000), and "Lesya Ukrainka" (2001), and others. He died on January 2, 2011 in Kherson. His works are kept in many museums of Ukraine and in private collections.
