Mykola Fedorovych Berezhnyi was a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1963), and Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1976). Born on July 24, 1938 in the village of Matvyeyevo, Krasnodar Territory. He studied at the Krasnodar Art and Pedagogical School and graduated in 1957. Since 1955, he participated in exhibitions. In 1994, he became a member and founder of the All-Ukrainian Symposium of Arts "Temptation". In 2008, he received the title of People's Artist of Ukraine. He worked in the field of easel painting and graphics. Among the artist's works are the series: "North-South" (1972-1982), "Bug Motifs" (1974-2004), "Crimea" (1991-2004), "Impressions", and others. M.F. Berezhnyi was the founder of a new phenomenon in Ukraine - pictorial and graphic plein airs and creative groups. He passed away on March 24, 2015. The artist's paintings are in many domestic and foreign museums and galleries.
