Mykola Vasylovych Pavlov was a Ukrainian Soviet artist and teacher and a member of the Kharkiv organization of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine starting in 1977. Born on May 20, 1926 in the city of Zinkiv (now Poltava district of Poltava region, Ukraine), he participated in World War II and graduated from a two-year art studio at the Moscow House of Officers. From 1950 to 1954, he studied at the Kharkiv Art School (under teacher Lev Fitilov). From 1955 to 1968, as well as 1977 to 1983, he taught at the I. Repin Kharkiv Art School. Pavlov worked in the field of easel painting. The main themes of his works are lyrical landscapes of the Kharkiv and Poltava regions and portraits, which clearly convey the character and psychological state of people. He participated in art exhibitions in Kharkiv and Kyiv starting in 1955. His personal exhibitions were held in Kharkiv (1967, 1973, 1989). Among his works are "View from the Cossack Mountain" (1956), "Mother" (1957), "Early Spring" (1960), "Over the Don" (1970), the series "Fields of the Kharkiv Region" (1977), and others. He died in Kharkiv on May 25, 1989. His works are in some museums of Ukraine.
