Ваня

Mykhailo Illich Kryvenko was a Ukrainian painter, member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine from 1954, and People's Artist of Ukraine (1977). Born on May 10, 1921 in the village of Novokormykha (now Volchykhynsky District of the Altai Territory of Russia), from 1940-1944 he studied at the Alma-Ata Art School (under Abram Cherkassky). In 1944-1950, he studied at the Kyiv Art Institute (under K. Yeleva, V. Kostetskyi, A. Petrytskyi and T. Yablonska). He worked in the field of easel painting. In a realistic style, he created genre paintings on historical themes and on the themes of the life and work of contemporaries, portraits, and landscapes. He participated in republic exhibitions from 1951, all-Union from 1954, and foreign from 1958. Among his works are "Female Portrait" (1950), "Forester" (1953), "Ukraine Chatted, Chatted for a Long Time..." (1961), "Mother" (1967), "The Feat" (1969), "Khortytsia" (1994), "Morning in Ukraine" (1995), and others. He died in Kyiv on December 21, 2008. His works are kept in many museums of Ukraine and in private collections.
