Borys Naumovych Rapoport was a Ukrainian artist, master of the lyrical landscape, and a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Born on October 27, 1922 in the city of Soroky (now Moldova), he studied at the Kyiv Art School from 1937 to 1940. His teachers were K. Yeleva, P. Nosko, and O. Syrotenko. In 1939, he entered the Kyiv Art Institute. His studies were interrupted by World War II. From 1946 to 1949, he continued his studies in the landscape workshop of the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers were Hryhoriy Svitlytskyi, Karpo Trokhymenko, and Ilya Shtilman. In 1950, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Starting in 1945, he participated in regional, republic, all-Union, and foreign exhibitions. In 1960, his first personal exhibition took place. Among Rapoport's works are "Dnipro Lands" (1949), "Windy Day" (1959), "Kyiv Chestnuts" (1963), "Old Wives' Summer" (1974), "Spring" (1990), and the series "Winter Day" (2000s). He passed away on February 14, 2006 in Kyiv. His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, as well as in many museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
