К. Е. Ціолковський

Symkha (Semen) Nusenovych (Natanovych) Huietskyi (Huetskyi) was a Soviet Ukrainian painter. Born on May 15, 1902 in the city of Zhytomyr, he studied from 1921 at the Zhytomyr Art Vocational and Technical School under O. Kantserov, and then until 1929 at the Kyiv Art Institute under F. Krychevskyi, M. Boichuk, and L. Kramarenko. A member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, Huietskyi worked as an animator at the Kyiv Film Studio. Of the genres of painting, he preferred portraits, still lifes, seascapes. He was a participant of republic and all-Union exhibitions and an Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1973). His main works include "In the Last Underground" (1959), "Self-Portrait", "Thoughts on the Fate of Serfdom" (both - 1960), "On the Threshold of Life" (1963), "Return" (1971), and others. His works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine, Russia and European countries. Huietskyi lived and worked in Kyiv and died on August 28, 1974.
