Lev Feliksovych Lahorio was an artist, landscape painter, marine painter, and battle painter. He was born on June 16 (28), or according to other sources on November 17 (29), 1827 in Feodosia, Tauride province as the son of the Neapolitan consul in Russia. Lahorio studied at the Academy of Arts with M. Vorobiov and B. Villevalde (1843-1850). In 1850, he received the title of class artist. In 1851, he traveled around the Caucasus. In 1852, having accepted Russian citizenship, he set off on a trip around Europe, where he stayed for eight years. In 1853, he lived in Paris, where he studied painting by French masters. In 1854, he moved to Rome. In 1860, he was awarded the title of professor. Lahorio was a founding member of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists, a full member of the Society of Russian Watercolorists from 1899 and an honorary member from 1906. In 1900, he was elected an honorary member of the Academy of Arts. His main works include "Mountain Lake" (1852), "Normandy Coast", "On the Island of Capri. Rocky Shores" (both - 1859), "In the Mountains of the Caucasus" (1879), "Sea Bay" (1883), "Moonlit Night at Sea" (1886), "Seascape with Sailboats" (1891), "Moonlit Night on the Neva" (1898), the series "Russian-Turkish War 1877-78" (1885), and others. The artist's works are kept in museums in Russia and abroad. He died on December 9 (22), 1905 in St. Petersburg.

Етюд. Морська затока. Ліворуч - човен, у ньому - 3 особи. У центрі, біля горизонту – вітрильник. Вдалині, ліворуч - контури прибережної частини міста. Більшу частину зображення займає небо з легкими хмарами. Пейзаж монохромний - сірі тони акварелі.
