Шахтарчук

Ivan Sysoiovych Lysov was a Ukrainian painter. He was born on September 12 (25), 1916 in the city of Yuzivka (now Donetsk) and studied at the Odesa Art School (1936-1940), where his teachers by specialty were L. Muchnyk and H. Pavliuk. A member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1956), he worked in the field of easel painting, creating portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and thematic paintings in a realistic style. He participated in regional, all-Ukrainian (from 1949), and republic (from 1954) art exhibitions. His personal exhibitions were held in Donetsk (1966). His main works include “Portrait of a Komsomol Miner” (1951), “Young Miners”, “About Our Brigade” (1960), and “Portrait of the Noble Miner I. Galinka” (1965). Some of his paintings are kept in the Donetsk and Luhansk art museums. He lived and worked in the city of Donetsk and died there on April 15, 1991.
