Ivan Nykyforovych Filonov was a Ukrainian artist, graphic artist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Born on April 10 (23), 1917 in the village of Verkhniy Amonash (now Kansky District, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia). Participated in World War II. In 1947, he graduated from the Kharkiv Art Institute. His teachers in the specialty were V. Kasiian, J. Daits, V. Mironenko. He worked in the field of easel and book graphics. He illustrated the works: "Fata Morgana" by M. Kotsiubynsky (1948), "Do the Oxen Roar When a Manger is Full" by P. Myrnyi (1954), "Zarobitchany" by K. Hordiienko (1957), "At a High Price" by M. Kotsiubynskyi (1970), made a series of etchings based on the works of T. Shevchenko (1961 to 1964), etc. Participated in art exhibitions starting in 1947. He died in 1983. Some of his works are kept in museums of Ukraine.
