Heorhii Fedorovych Varkach is a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. He was born on July 15, 1942 in Izmayil. A member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1975), he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute (1971), where he studied under I. Selivanov. Varkach participated in republic, all-union and international art exhibitions starting in 1973. His works lie in the genre of landscape, historical and everyday painting. His main works include the series “Pushkin in Exile”, the triptych “Sea” (all – 1979), a cycle of watercolor landscapes of Chernihiv region (1985), “Old Mosque” (1991), “Fresh Wind” (1998), “Venice. Grand Canal” (1999), “House with Chimeras”, “M. Voloshyn in Koktebel”, “Autumn in Moldova”, “Desniansky Horizons” (all – 2000), “Lyzohub Manor. Sedniv”, “Evening” (both – 2001), “Clouds from the North”, “Sedniv Meadows”, “Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral in Chernihiv” (all – 2002), “Quiet Bay”, “Carpathians. Morning” (both – 2003), “Autumn in Sudak”, “Apricot”, “Balaklava”, and “Sudak Fortress” (all – 2004). Varkach's paintings are kept in museums in Ukraine and Russia. He lives and works in Kyiv.
