Anatolii Hryhorovych Lymariev was a Ukrainian painter. Born on April 1, 1929 in the village of Amvrosiyivka, Donetsk region, he graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute, where his teacher was S. Hryhoriev (1957). He worked in the field of easel painting and was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. His main works include "My Village" (1960), "Ripe Field" (1967), and "In the Donetsk Steppe" (1969). His painting was ahead of its time; in the 1970s, it remained unrecognized. His energetically picturesque work did not have official recognition, since it did not fit into the ideological canons. Today, Lymariev is considered one of the best painters of Ukraine. He was a participant in all-Union, republic, and foreign art exhibitions since 1957, including "Exhibitions of the Nine" (1985). His personal posthumous exhibitions were held in Kyiv (1988, 2012). The artist's works are kept in the Directorate of Exhibitions of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the Directorate of Art Exhibitions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, in the National Art Museum of Ukraine (Kyiv), and in museums and private collections of Ukraine, Russia and other countries. Lymariev died on November 6, 1985.
