Портрет художника О.П. Кисельова

Yurii Yevdokymovych Balykov was a Ukrainian artist and a member of the Union of Soviet Artists of Ukraine since 1965. He was born on 17 April 1924 in the village of Plyskiv (now Vinnytsia region). He took part in the Second World War. In 1951, he graduated from the Kyiv College of Applied Arts. From 1952 to 1958, he studied at the Kyiv State Art Institute under Viktor Puzyrkov and Oleksii Shovkunenko. The artist worked in the field of easel painting and created portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and nude compositions. He began participating in republic exhibitions in 1960 and in all-Union exhibitions in 1965. His solo exhibition took place in Kyiv in 2002. Selected works include "Portrait of the Mother" (1960), "Taras Shevchenko" (1964), "Victors" (1985), and "Dream" (1989). He passed away on 9 August 2010 in Kyiv. His works are held in museums in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and other cities of Ukraine.
