Semen Borysovych Hruzberg (pseudonym - Serhii Hruzbenko) was a Ukrainian graphic artist. Born on June 15, 1918 in the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, now Khmelnytskyi region, he graduated from the Kyiv Art School (1934) and Kharkiv Art Institute (1934-1940). His teachers by specialty were V. Kasian, S. Biesiedin, and Yu. Holovanov. Hruzberg worked in the field of easel, book, newspaper and magazine graphics, and posters. He was a master of the psychological portrait. A member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR, Hruzberg painted landscapes of Lviv, Budapest, and Kamianets-Podilskyi. His work is distinguished by an individual style, inner burning, and love of life. He participated in republic, all-Union, and foreign (1946) exhibitions. His main works include "Artist V. Forostetsky", "Girl from Budapest", "Scout Shevchenko", "Yu. Galan" (1951), "V. Yaremenko as Taras Bulba" (1954), "Kamenets-Podilskyi. Old Fortress" (1962), "Gurzuf. Artek" (1963), "T. Shevchenko" (1964), "P. Kozlanyuk" (1966), "M. Kropyvnytskyi" (1967), "P. Markish" (1968), "Wife" (1969), "Self-portrait", "Gurzuf. White Stone" (1992), and others. His works are kept in Ukrainian museums. Hruzberg lived and worked in Lviv and died on July 15, 2000.
