Samuil Yakovych Adlivankin was a Soviet painter, monumental artist, and graphic artist, associated with the "left-wing" movement in the Soviet art of the 1920s–1930s. He was born on 7 (19) July 1897 in the town of Tatarsk, Mogilev Governorate (now Smolensk region, Russia). From 1912–1917, he studied at the Odesa Art College under K. K. Kostandi and received a diploma as a teacher of drawing and drafting. In 1918, he continued his education under V. E. Tatlin at the Free Art Studio in Moscow. From 1916 onward, he participated in art exhibitions. He painted portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes. The artist collaborated with the publishing houses "Moloda hvardiia", "Bezbozhnyk", and "Lapot’", and worked with V.V. Mayakovsky. He passed away in Moscow on 7 March 1966. His works are held in many art museums in Russia and Ukraine.
