Hryhorii Saveliiovych Moskovchenko was a Soviet painter and teacher. He was born on February 25, 1916 in the village of Karatysh, Mariupol district, Ekaterinoslav region (now the village of Starodubivka, Mangush district, Donetsk region). In 1951, he graduated from the Surikov Moscow Art Institute. He was an Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1982) and a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Moskovchenko participated in exhibitions starting in 1951. He lived and worked in Moscow and died on April 5, 1995.

In the foreground there is a full-length image of a soldier in a helmet, raincoat, and with a machine gun in his hands. The image is shown from the back. In the background there are the ruins of a building, the reflection of a fire. The background is dark.
